Chemnitz experienced an overwhelming start to the European Capital of Culture 2025. An estimated 80,000 people from Germany and abroad have been celebrating a big opening party in the city centre since the morning.

C the Unseen is the motto of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, which will open on Saturday, 18 January 2025 with an all-day programme. Tens of thousands of people are expected in the city centre. They will show that Chemnitz is a cosmopolitan and diverse city. Chemnitz 2025 offers an eleven-month celebration of European togetherness starting this weekend. 

The afternoon programme for the Chemnitz 2025 Opening has been announced: Omar Massa, Dilla, Alexander Scheer & Andreas Dresen and many Chemnitz locals will take part in the programme

The European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will be opened on 18th January 2025 with a large street festival and many other activities throughout the city centre.
